Ravenence: How did Five Star Mobile Valet start, and who books with you today? It helps to know who your customers are before we talk about the site.

Owner: Five Star Mobile Valet is a mobile valeting and detailing service. We come to the customer, at their home or their workplace, so nobody has to drop a car off or queue at a wash.

We work seven days a week across Greater London and the surrounding counties, including Surrey, Kent, Essex, Hertfordshire and Middlesex.

So the website has to show customers what we do before they pick up the phone.

Ravenence: What made you decide to rebuild the website, and what was the old site getting wrong?

Owner: We wanted a site that works as well as the van does. A customer should be able to see what each package includes, how long it takes and roughly what it costs, then book without a phone call.

We also wanted the work on show. A before-and-after photo says more about a valet than a paragraph does, so the site is built around our own results, with reviews from real customers beside them.

Ravenence: What do customers usually ask before they book? Which of those questions did the new site need to answer?

Owner: Customers ask the practical things first. What is included in each valet? How long will it take, and what will it cost? Do I need to be at home? Where do you cover? What happens if I need to cancel?

The services page now lists the inclusions, the approximate time and the price range for every package.

The home page covers how a booking works, where we operate and our cancellation policy, so nobody has to ask before they book.

Ravenence: What does the new site run on? It's useful for readers who are weighing up a rebuild of their own.

Owner: It is a Next.js site, hosted on Vercel, with an online booking page built in.
